Almost every 'survey site' that fails you is not a scam in the criminal sense. It is a lead farm: a signup form that sells your email and phone number to advertisers and shows you surveys as an afterthought.
These nine checks tell you which one you are looking at before you hand over your details.
Signals of a real panel
A named operating company with a registered address, not just a brand name. Real panels belong to market-research firms and say so in the footer.
A published cash-out threshold and payment method list. If you cannot find out how you get paid before you register, you will not like the answer.
Membership of ESOMAR, the Insights Association, or an equivalent research body. It is not a guarantee, but lead farms never bother.
Signals of a lead farm
The signup form asks for a phone number before it has shown you a single survey. Research panels rarely need one; lead buyers always do.
The privacy policy grants the right to share your data with 'marketing partners' — an unbounded list you cannot inspect.
The reward is a 'chance to win' rather than a payment. Sweepstakes are cheap for the operator and worthless for you.
The site pushes you through three or four consecutive offer pages after you register. That is the actual product; the surveys were the bait.
