Pinecone Research is the panel that survey veterans quietly recommend. It pays a flat $3 per survey — not points, not a variable rate, $3 — and most of its surveys run 10 to 15 minutes. That is a $12 to $18 hourly rate on a consumer panel, which nothing else in the category matches.

The catch is access. Pinecone recruits only through invitations placed in specific ad campaigns and partner sites, and it closes recruitment for long stretches to keep its demographic quotas balanced.

Quick verdict

Best for: Anyone who receives an invitation. The per-minute rate is excellent; the volume is not.

Pros

  • Flat $3 per survey regardless of length — most run 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Cash out after a single survey; there is effectively no threshold.
  • Regular physical product tests where you keep the product and get paid on top.
  • Very low screen-out rate because invitations are targeted before they are sent.

Cons

  • Invitation-only. There is no open signup page and waiting lists are long.
  • Invitation volume is limited — three to six surveys a month is typical.
  • Panel closes to new members for months at a time.
  • No offer wall or secondary earning, so total monthly income is capped low.

The flat-rate model

Every standard survey pays 300 points, and 100 points equals $1. There is no tiering, no bonus structure and no daily goal to chase. You take the survey, you are paid $3.

Because the rate does not scale with length, the short surveys are outstanding value and the occasional 25-minute study is merely adequate. Take the short ones first.

Product testing

Pinecone regularly ships physical products to test — food, household goods and personal-care items are the most common. You keep the product, complete a follow-up survey, and are paid the standard rate for it.

These are the highest-value invitations on the panel. Respond quickly: test slots are allocated first-come and close within a day or two.

Getting an invitation

There is no public signup form that works reliably. Invitations appear in banner campaigns and on partner sites, and they are targeted at whichever demographic Pinecone currently needs.

Be sceptical of any site claiming to sell or guarantee Pinecone access — the panel does not work that way and those pages are lead farms. If a legitimate invitation appears, complete it immediately; the links expire.

Our verdict

On pay-per-minute, Pinecone is the best consumer panel available, and the effectively zero cash-out threshold means you are never chasing a balance.

It cannot be your only panel because the volume is too low. Treat it as the one you always answer first when an invitation lands.
